IMI would like to make available resources to members of its community on a variety of topics that are of interest in our lives as monastics.  The links below will direct you to information on a wide variety of topics.

Financial, Medical Care and Housing Resources

After extensive interviewing of members of IMI in the United States, several resources of information that may be helpful were developed.  Interviews and research is being conducted in other regions and information will be provided as it becomes available.

Retirement and Financial Assistance

Generally, there are two programs available for residents of the United States, Social Security and Supplemental Security Income.

Housing

Within the United States, housing programs vary state by state and even within the state by local area. Most options relate to Senior Housing or Low Income Housing programs which are alternatives.

Life Care Documents

Not only is it important to develop our practice on impermanence, but also a pragmatic approach is necessary to ensure that life, aging, dying and death considerations are in place.  Certain documents are integral in our care when we are not in a capacity to make decisions or also are important for those who must make decisions on our behalf.

Advanced Health Care Directive

An Advanced Health Care Directive (AHCD) is a document that instructs others about your care should you be unable to make decisions on your own. It only becomes effective under the circumstances delineated in the document. .

Making a Will

Even with good intentions and few belongs, things can get complicated without a will. A simple will is an important document  and not so difficult to put into place.
