Dorjé Pamo Monastery – September News

One of the highlights of this summer was a joyful six-day retreat dedicated to practicing and preserving the lineage of chanting for the Lama Chöpa practice, transmitted by Kyabje Lama Zopa Rinpoche. The program included a Vajrayogini Self-Initiation, four days of Lama Chöpa and Protector prayers, followed by the Cittamani Tara Puja.

Venerables Chantal, Angie, and Jamyang took turns serving as umze. They also spent time sharing constructive feedback on each other’s chanting every afternoon.

Along with a small number of nuns attending either in person or online, we were delighted to welcome three aspirant nuns who joined us for the main five days of the retreat. Two of the aspirants have joined the community at Dorjé Pamo and are preparing for ordination. Two more aspirants might be ready to do the same in a few months. Needless to say, this gives new impetus to our community.

This initial retreat was held with the aspiration of planting the seeds for an annual Ganden Chöd retreat at Dorje Pamo Monastery. One of the main inspirations for establishing this practice comes from a wish Kyabje Lama Zopa Rinpoche expressed a few years before he manifested passing away.

“Just like the Kagyu and Nyingma nuns do group Chöd practice, it would be wonderful if the FPMT nuns could also do that.”

Kyabje Lama Zopa Rinpoche transmitted a clear lineage of chanting for the Chöd, and advised that these melodies be practiced. It is therefore our heartfelt wish not only to continue practicing this lineage ourselves, but also to help preserve it for future generations of FPMT monastics.

Before organizing a full six-day Chöd retreat, we would love to hear from any FPMT nuns who may be interested in learning and practicing Kyabje Lama Zopa Rinpoche’s lineage of Ganden Chöd chanting.
If there is enough interest, we will proceed with organizing next year’s retreat.

The Stupa of Enlightenment Project is taking shape at Dorjé Pamo.

The project of building an Enlightenment Stupa dedicated to our precious Lama Kyabjé Zopa Rinpoché continues to progress on the grounds of the Monastery.

The construction schedule is now set. The grounds will be consecrated in October by Sera Je monks and our Abbot Khen Rinpoché Geshe Loden. Groundworks and the base of the stupa are planned to be completed by the end of December. Assembly and filling of the stupa will take place during March 2027. Then the consecration will follow.

Of the €55,000 needed for the project, 67% has been raised thanks to the generosity of our sponsors — including €6,232 received from FPMT Inc.’s Stupa Project. A few months remain before final completion, and we sincerely hope to gather the necessary funds before the end of the year.

You can find details on this project on our website.
